Kind Words
“After taking this course, I plan to incorporate more AAC, particularly in the school settings I work at. I really enjoyed the videos showing various examples of the devices. While I have seen them in the schools I work at, I have not been shown their functionality in many cases. It was great to be shown that first hand. This course is a great introduction to the various types of communication. I love how you are directed to think about your own clients in a practical manner and how you can incorporate greater communication in a variety of ways.”
–Danielle Saunders, MT-BC | Austin, TX
“I would recommend this course, because it is a good reminder for those who already use AAC, and it is a good primer for those getting started. I especially liked the list of iPad apps.”
–Nancy Lenzen Davis, MT-BC | Hartford, CT
“Prior to taking this course, I was woefully ignorant of AAC systems, and felt I might not understand the technicalities. Now, I am armed with lots of information that I will be able to use to advocate on behalf of my client and his family. I appreciated that this course helped me recognize there is so much out there that is available to contribute to improving my client’s communications and how well this fits into broadening my professional life. AAC is so important in many of our clients’ lives and very important for therapists to know what is available so that we can be advocates.”
–Jennifer Dixon, MT-BC | Southfield, MI
“This course has been one of my favorites. I really enjoyed this course and feel like it was very informative and necessary for our field. I really liked the videos… WOW!! The first one had me sobbing–very strong impact. Communication is crucial, and every MT will encounter a client who has or needs an AAC.”
–Cari Miller, MT-BC | Webster, NY
“Would I recommend this course? Absolutely. Many other therapists could benefit from learning how to incorporate AAC into their sessions, and I loved seeing demonstrations of the various devices. Amy gave great ideas for incorporating the devices into sessions! After taking the course, I have become more thorough in my own communication with speech therapists at our school, and I now know how to best communicate with our students as individuals.”
