Number of CMTEs: 3
Price: $85
Length of Access: 2 months

This course provides an organized format with which to experiment and experience music that is appropriate for use in a clinical setting focusing on teen and adolescent clients. To be effective with clients, we must maintain an open mindset about contemporary music as well as draw boundaries as to what we feel is appropriate and necessary within a session. This course will expose you to options for using songwriting, active music making, and adding a mindfulness meditation component to your work.

Kind Words

“I would recommend this course to others, because it had great ideas for resources and sessions. I got some good ideas of different online and written resources I can use to learn more and develop new ideas. I also got the motivation to try some rapping in my groups, along with some new session ideas and inspiration. I especially enjoyed the active music-making portions and the session ideas, along with the new music ideas.”

–Jacqueline S. Brady, MMT, MT-BC | Austin, TX

“This course is very informative. I especially enjoyed the musical examples and hands on learning style. After taking this course, I plan to try and expand my practice to include teens.”

–Hillary Lee, MT-BC | Burlington, NC

What a great, available resource! I loved Amanda’s knowledge of different current music. She obviously takes music preference very seriously and tries to meet her clients on many levels. It was fun to play along with her to all these songs that I don’t use in my current practice!”

–Leslie Meadows, MA, MT-BC, NMT | Akron, OH

“I think this is a great course for generating new ideas if you are stuck in a rut.”

–Bridget Shevlin, MT-BC | Omaha, NE

I appreciated the many songs and suggestions in Part One. After taking the course, I now have many new resources of songs, artists and types of interventions to use. I will be able to use some of them with adults as well, not just limited to adolescents.”

–Susan Phillips, MT-BC | San Antonio, TX
